Kid Care App Now Available for Android
Kid Care, St. Louis Children’s Hospital’s free app to help diagnose pediatric symptoms, is now available on Android Market.
First introduced in early 2010 for the iPhone™, Kid Care has been downloaded more than 16,000 times. The app can be downloaded from Apple iTunes or Android Market, or by linking from the St. Louis Children’s Hospital website, StLouisChildrens.org.
Kid Care guidelines help parents make decisions about what level of medical care is needed and how to treat their child at home when it’s safe to do so. You can select from 91 pediatric topics and search through an alphabetical list or by body area.
“Health problems can arise anytime—evenings, weekends or when you’re at work or traveling,” says Suzi Wells, BSN, RN, manager of the St. Louis Children’s Hospital Answer Line and content consultant for the Kid Care app. “The application helps you make smart decisions about what level of care is needed and how to provide speedy relief for your child’s minor illnesses or injuries that you can manage on your own.”
Kid Care is derived from the clinical protocols used by St. Louis Children’s Hospital, as well as pediatricians and nurses in 10,000 practices and 400 nurse advice call centers in the United States and Canada. The protocols have been tested for 15 years on more than 150 million symptom calls.
Visit Android Market or iTunes to download the Kid Care app to your smartphone.
