Bereavement Program

The Bereavement Program provides support, information and presence to the families of children who have died at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. The program also offers continued assistance through telephone calls and mailings that occur at intervals for 24 months.

The Bereavement Coordinator works closely with the chaplains of St. Louis Children's Hospital. If you wish to speak with a chaplain please call the Social Work and Chaplaincy Office of St. Louis Children's Hospital at 314.454.6101.

An Interfaith Memorial Service to remember a child that has died and to support one another is also held several times each year at St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Resources
Resource materials are available that address the special needs of siblings, newborn death, prolonged illness, suicide, murder and accidental death. At times, the program also expands to include pediatric bereavement support at other levels to assist the community in its effort to help the bereaved.

Formerly named the Bereavement Center for Young People is a community based non-profit organization that provides comprehensive services to children, teens and families that are grieving the death of someone significant.

Bereaved Parents of the USA

Offers a newsletter and support groups. Bereaved Parents is a national self-help organization offering friendship and understanding to bereaved parents, families and friends that have experienced the death of a child.

Stepping Stones Bereavement Camp is held in August for ages 7-12 years old
Labyrinth Bereavement Day is for teens ages 12-18.
Weavings is a Bereavement Weekend for mothers that have a child who has died.

Grief Support Program at Missouri Baptist Medical Center

This program features weekly grief support groups for adults, teens and children.

Infant Death Resources
The Baby Steps website, a bereavement resource for infant death, also provides information on other resources such as National SHARE Office (800.821.6819), Sudden Infant Death Resources (800.421.3511) and Honored Babies.

Kids Clubhouse

Kids Clubhouse is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to provide support to children and parents as they cope with the death of someone special. A newsletter and a Spring and Fall Support Group are among their services.
