Neuro-oncology Support Group

The Neuro-oncology team at St. Louis Children’s Hospital will hold family education/support meetings in 2009.

2009 Meetings
November 21, 2009

The speaker for the Nov. 21 brain tumor support group is David Mansur, M.D. from Radiation Oncology at the Center for Advanced Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine.

Title: Radiation Therapy for Pediatric Brain Tumors

Objectives:
1) To understand the general indications for radiation therapy in the setting of pediatric brain tumors.
2) To understand the efficacy of radiation therapy for various tumor types.

Agenda:

10:30 AM to 10:50 AM - Register in room 11w33 of St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Time to get children settled into their activities
11:00 AM to 11:45 AM - Teen Patient Support Group led by a community social worker. Music therapy for younger patients and their siblings.
11:45 AM to 12:15 PM - Light lunch will be provided for all
12:15 PM to 1:00 PM - Support group for parents led by a community social worker. Supervised teen activity for ALL teens (including siblings) and separate activity for younger children.

Families are welcome to attend part or the entire program. Throughout the event, supervised activities will be provided for patients and their siblings. Door prizes for attendees, FREE parking and more!

To register, please call our neuro-oncology social worker, Moroline Whittington at 314.454.5196, and respond by November 13th with the number of people attending, including the ages of all children
