Pediatric HIV Support Group
The Pediatric HIV Support Group is designed to enhance coping skills for children and youth infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS.
 
The group meets once a month and focuses on educational guidance and therapeutic care. The program was created to help all children and youth who are dealing with HIV. It offers separate programs depending on the age of the participants as well as if they are infected or affected by HIV. To be affected means that the child has a loved one living with HIV and is not infected with the virus.
 
Who: Groups are held for children 7-11 years of age and 12-18 years of age.
 
When: Groups run monthly on the 4th Wednesday of the month from 5 pm-8 pm. Dinner and transportation provided.
 
Where: The SPOT- a Project ARK Program - 4169 Laclede, St. Louis, MO 63108
 
The Pediatric Support Group is facilitated by trained professionals including a Child Life Specialist as well as a Social Worker. Topics include information on HIV, prevention, trust, self-esteem issues, bereavement issues, and many more.
