School Program
The Hospital School Program is available to all in-patients who are hospitalized over three days. By the fifth day of admission, the goal is to have patients attending the Hospital School Program daily. If a child will be hospitalized long-term, the Hospital School Teachers set up a daily schedule in cooperation with the health care team.

At SLCH, we are fortunate to have two full-time employed St. Louis Public School Teachers. Both of our teachers have their Masters Degrees as well as multiple Teachers Certifications through the State of Missouri. The school teachers have the ability to contact the patients school to have assignments faxed in or brought by family members. Once assignments have been received or if assignments are not available, the teachers create an individualized education plan.

The school program is enhanced by many community volunteers that help work with patients one-on-one. Both the school teachers and the community volunteers can work bedside with patients or if patients are ambulatory , they are welcome to visit the school room.
