92.3 WIL and “The Cornbread Morning Show” asked their local listeners to “find their heart this holiday season” – and St. Louisans did in droves! In what is becoming an annual holiday tradition, WIL listeners and the radio station’s advertising partners dug deep in their hearts (and pockets) to support this year’s “Cornbread’s Kids Crusade” event, benefitting St. Louis Children’s Hospital's Transport Team and Child Life Services. Beginning early Tuesday morning, December 21st, Cornbread took over the WIL studio and airwaves to raise awareness and funds for St. Louis Children’s Hospital. He encouraged listeners and companies to become “Guardian Angels” with a minimum commitment of $20 a month for a year. And the St. Louis area community responded to his call –over the course of 28 hours, 92.3 WIL generated 701 “Guardian Angels” and raised over $218,000for this outstanding effort.Through the generosity of the WIL listeners, the “Cornbread’s Kid Crusade” has raised almost $500,000 dollars in the first two years. Commenting on the 2011 fundraiser, Cornbread notes, “I’m humbled by the generosity of the WIL listenership, who poured out their love for the kids of St. Louis Children’s Hospital.”Special thanks goes to the fundraising sponsors Imo’s Pizza and Johnny Londoff Chevrolet, Cornbread, the radio station staff and the many volunteers who manned the phone bank. It's not too late to make your gift!
