Health Tip: Help Your Children Deal With Stress

How do children and teenagers deal with stress? Depending on their ages, some kids withdraw or sulk while others act out and have tantrums. Teenagers may turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms that they see their peers using. Often, parents may underestimate the amount of stress that young people experience today.

Be the Boss of Your Stress: Self-Care for Kids is just one of the books that the Family Resource Center has that can help your child learn to deal with stress. Other titles include Don’t Pop Your Cork on Mondays!, Stress Can Really Get on Your Nerves, Getting Out of a Stress Mess, Stress Relief, and Seven Steps to Help Your Child Worry Less. Come to the Family Resource Center to check these items out, or call (314.454.2350) or email us (frc@bjc.org) for an informational packet on stress management.
