Bring the entire family for a fun day at the Zoo and join us as we “hunt” for nutrition and exercise information.
Your family will visit six different stations and receive a clue about a Zoo animal like, “I am black and white with wings for flying through the water! I eat 100% fish.” You guessed it, I’m a penguin! It’s a unique and fun way for children to relate to animals and understand their similarities, all while learning about good nutrition and exercise habits.
Each child will be given a game card at their first stop so they can begin their scavenger hunt through the Zoo. They will follow the game card map and visit six different stations, gather clues, guess animals, learn
nutrition and exercise tips and collect stickers along the way. Once all six stickers are collected they will receive a special prize! (pictured at right)
Each station will represent one category of the food pyramid and will exhibit colorful displays of foods that your child might eat from each group. For example, if your child doesn't get enough calcium, have you tried cottage cheese or calcium-fortified orange juice? The entire family will learn while you play! Be sure to look for the bright St. Louis Children's Hospital tents throughout the Zoo.
