The specialists in pediatric infectious diseases provide consultation regarding the diagnosis and management of all types of infectious diseases in children and adolescents. They work closely with the Division of Immunology at Washington University School of Medicine for the evaluation of patients with severe or recurrent infections.
The service is strengthened by the outstanding clinical diagnostic laboratories of St. Louis Children's Hospital, which provide resources for evaluation of the immune system, as well as a variety of conventional and molecular techniques for rapid diagnosis of infectious diseases.

The specialists in pediatric infectious diseases provide care for children with possible or documented HIV infections through a program known as Project A.R.K. (AIDS Resources for Kids) that provides for the medical, psychosocial and educational needs of HIV-infected children and their families.
