If you would like your patient assessed and treated by the PAWS department, please call Children’s Direct at 800.678.HELP (5437).
A referral must be made by the physician or advanced practice nurse (APN) directly to a PAWS staff member. The PAWS staff will obtain information over the phone to screen the needs of the patient. We will schedule the patient the following day to be seen. If called early, we may be able to see the patient the same day depending on scheduling availability and sedation needs. If a patient needs immediate assistance or is not a good sedation or PAWS candidate, the child must be sent to the Emergency Unit.
The required paperwork, listed below, must be faxed to the PAWS department prior to the child being seen. Fax number: 314.454.2744
