Pain affects children differently than it does adults. It may impact self-esteem, social interaction, school, and the fun of being a child. Our goal is to help children and their families live as normal a life as possible. We provide outpatient multi-disciplinary assessment as well as inpatient care and management of pain issues for the child and family which may include:
- Medical Management of Pain
Basic treatment plans incorporate medications to help relieve pain and its associated problems, such as sleep disorders, anxiety, depression, and frustration. Medications can include injections of specific nerves for diagnostic and/or pain relief. Procedures include pulsed radiofrequency ablation, spinal cord stimulators, peripheral nerve stimulators, and implantable pain pumps.
- Relaxation/Biofeedback Therapies
Our psychologist introduces patients to relaxation therapy, biofeedback, and stress management techniques to help them learn to control pain and its associated symptoms.
- Physical Therapy
Physical/Occupational Therapy can evaluate patients for muscle weakness, muscle tightness, and movement problems that contribute to pain, then individually develop a treatment to help reduce pain and increase activity levels.
Referrals are accepted from your child’s primary care physician or specialty service. Please have your child’s physician call our office, or fax your child’s records to us at 314.454.2296. Once we have received and reviewed your child’s records we will contact you regarding an appointment.
