Every procedure at St. Louis Children’s Hospital is designed for children. Radiation dosage is carefully based on the patient’s size and the test required.
Radiology technologists at St. Louis Children’s Hospital are specially trained in pediatric imaging, which results in reduced radiation exposure and scan time, as well as the need for sedation. Our dedicated technologists possess the expertise to interact with children to receive the highest quality exam.
Our radiologist coordinate with a team of nurse anesthetists, pediatric hospitalists, and pediatric anesthesiologists, which allows us to provide the safest and most appropriate level of sedation for the patient.

A Child Life Specialist works in collaboration with the radiology team to provide an overall positive experience. Child Life Specialists strive to reduce anxiety that may be related to medical procedures by preparing children and families based on the child’s developmental level. Child Life specialist encourage healthy coping techniques and the normalization of the hospital experience.

- Scheduled appointment times are as follows:
- Ultrasound: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday-Friday and 7:30 to noon on Saturdays
- CT: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday-Friday and most Saturdays
- MRI: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday-Friday and most Saturdays
