Supervision

The faculty in the pediatric psychology fellowship training program is enthusiastic and committed to providing quality supervision to support the resident’s training goals. We are honored to have the opportunity to help the resident prepare for the transition from trainee to independent professional. The opportunity to train with different faculty throughout the year provides the fellow with a wealth of perspectives on clinical intervention and professional development which is a strength of our program.

Residents will have at least two hours of one-on-one supervision per week. Additional supervision can be scheduled as needed. These supervision meetings will include twice monthly sessions with the program director to discuss progress in the program and for professional development mentoring. At the beginning of the year and mid-year with the change of elective rotations the resident and faculty will set goals for supervision which are monitored and revised throughout the training year. Residents will be provided formal feedback by their supervisors on a quarterly basis with ongoing informal feedback provided as needed.

As part of the Health Psychology Seminar, the Pediatric Psychology resident and Psycho-oncology resident will meet for lunch every other month with a faculty member from each program. This meeting will allow for informal mentoring and support regarding training progress and developmental issues such as preparation for the EPPP and job searches.
