Training Competencies
The competencies expected of our residents are based on those set forth by the Society of Pediatric Psychology Task Force Report (Spirito et al., 2003). It is our training mission to address gaps in any of the areas of compentency and to enhance skills in the areas where the resident demonstrates strength. We expect that the resident will achieve professional level competencies in the following areas upon graduation from the program:
- life span developmental psychology
- life span developmental psychopathology
- child/adolescent and family assessment
- intervention strategies (i.e., emperically based treatments)
- research methods and systems evaluations
- professional, ethical, and legal issues
- cultural competence/diversity
- multidisciplinary service delivery
- prevention, family support, and health promotion
- social issues affecting children and adolescents
- consultation and liaison
- disease process and medical management.
