Art Therapy Program Enjoys "Art for a Lifetime"
10/1/2007

LOCAL ARTISTS LEND A HELPING HAND FOR A LIFETIME OF ART

ST. LOUIS (October 1, 2007)—Prominent local artists are paving the way for generations of artists to come by participating in the upcoming Art For A Lifetime event hosted by St. Louis Children’s Hospital, ArtDimensions and local advertising agency Drive Agency on October 5th, 2007. The event will benefit the art therapy program at the hospital, with all funds going toward program costs and art supplies.
Art For A Lifetime will feature a live and silent auction along with regularly priced pieces of artwork from St. Louis artists and patients of the hospital. Already, numerous St. Louis artists have donated their time and artwork, including Alison Ferring, Davide Weaver, Peat Wollaeger and Matt Maddox.
“As an artist and coordinator of artists for this most important art therapy program, I have seen and felt first hand the positive impact that it is having on the children, who for several hours are able to forget their pain and create art,” Davide Weaver, ArtDimensions CEO said.
Each year, the art therapy program at St. Louis Children’s Hospital provides more than 100 young patients the opportunity to express themselves emotionally through various art forms. While coping with their health conditions, each child receives personal attention and support from an art therapist at the hospital. With the generous donations from St. Louis artists, children will continue to learn about artwork and its therapeutic benefits. From art sales, the live and silent auction and donations, the goal is to raise $50,000 for the art therapy program.

Hosted by Drive Gallery at 1617 Locust Street and in conjunction with the First Friday Gallery Walk downtown, the event will run from 5:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m. with the live auction beginning at 7:30 p.m. Complementary drinks, food samplings from area restaurants will be available. Admission is free and open to the public and donations will be accepted at the door. To RSVP or for more information call (314) 436-8880 or email info@driveagency.com
