Dear Colleagues,
St. Louis Children’s Hospital is proud to present our Sixth Annual Perspectives in Pediatrics Conference on April 26 and 27, 2012. As a top-ranked children’s hospital, we are continually working to discover new knowledge and improve the quality and safety of the care we provide. We offer equally advanced care to children beyond the walls of our facility through innovative community health promotion programs in the St. Louis area.
St. Louis Children’s Hospital is an environment where clinicians are continuously learning and striving to provide a superior patient experience for every child and family who comes here for care. We have developed an interdisciplinary model of Joint Practice and Shared Leadership to advance our goal of providing family-centered, safe, effective care to every patient, every family, every day. The conference committee, under the direction of our Shared Leadership Education Council, represents professionals from multiple disciplines.
This year’s conference will highlight current safety issues not only in a hospital setting, but in a community setting as well. The compelling story of Josie King, a child who died in a top ranked hospital, told by her mother is something that every health care clinician should hear. We will also hear about the experience of our colleagues in Joplin, Missouri, with the tornado that struck last spring. Their experience illustrates the importance of always being prepared to respond to a natural disaster in our hospitals.
I hope you will join us for an exciting two days of learning and networking with colleagues from around the country. Come share your experience in pediatric health care and passion for children and their families with us!
