Tuition Assistance for Employees

In keeping with our commitment to help our employees succeed with their careers, St. Louis Children’s Hospital offers scholarships and tuition assistance.

General Tuition Assistance Plan
Plan A: Tuition Reimbursement (Plan A Process and Flow)

  • For regular full-time and regular part-time benefits-eligible employees that have been in an eligible status for the six months prior to commencement of classes
  • For pre-approved course work or degrees which relate to the employee's present position, or required for a position which the employee can reasonably expect to attain, as determined by the employee's department management and human resources
  • An employee must not have corrective actions on file for six months
  • Maximum reimbursement is $4500 for full-time employment and $2250 for part-time

Plan B: Tuition Loan (Plan B Process and Flow)

  • BJC has identified certain courses of study consistently in high demand for which tuition loans will be made available; see Human Resources for the list of positions that qualify
  • Loans of up to $4,500 per year will be approved for regular full-time and regular part-time benefits-eligible employee and is eligible upon hire if requested
  • For the initial degree, credential, diploma or advanced clinical degrees within the employee's current profession, or where an advanced degree would allow the employee to perform in a new position in a sub-specialty where there is high demand; doctoral degrees excluded except for BJC school faculty

Learning Account

  • For regular full-time and regular part-time benefits-eligible employees that have been in an eligible status for the six months
  • A program designed to help you pay for courses or educational activities to meet your approved career goals but are not necessarily specific to your job.
  • You contribute dollars on an after tax basis through payroll deduction and BJC will match contributions up to $500 annually; monies can rollover from year to year
