Medulloblastoma is a fast-growing tumor located in the cerebellum—the lower, rear portion of the brain. Typically the child experiences increased intracranial pressure. These tumors are fast growing and often malignant (cancerous).
Medulloblastoma cells can spread (metastasize) to other areas of the central nervous system, especially around the spinal cord. A combination of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy is usually needed to control these tumors.
