Pediatric Antiarrhythmic Drug Dosage Guide Available Online
George Van Hare, MD, director of pediatric cardiology at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine, has compiled an Antiarrhythmic Drug Guide that focuses on pediatric considerations. The guide is available online by clicking here. It is organized using the Vaughn Williams classification of antiarrhythmic drug effects.
“In particular, this guide answers the most frequent questions I receive concerning the use of these agents in children, and it is handy when writing prescriptions or in-patient orders,” says Dr. Van Hare. “However, it is not exhaustive in the scope of data included, particularly with respect to interactions and cautions. The PDR is available and should be used if a complete account of prescribing information is desired.”
Dr. Van Hare also cautions that the guide is not a substitute for a cardiology consult.
