Asthma Control Education sessions are available to groups and individuals upon request. Certified asthma educators address individualized questions and concerns to help parents and asthma patients better manage their symptoms to be healthy and safe. Classes are free of charge. Additionally, spacers are provided for class participants and may be taken home.

WHAT: One session that covers basic information about asthma including action plans, triggers and environmental control.

WHY: Families need A.C.E. to help manage asthma. Education sessions are individualized to each child’s personal asthma action plan.

WHO should attend:

  • Parents and caregivers of any child with asthma (at least 1 parent or caregiver must attend the session with the child)
  • Children with asthma who are 5 years of age or older

Here’s what is covered:

  • Understanding the signs and symptoms of asthma
  • Understanding what happens when a person has an asthma “attack”
  • Correctly using inhalers and spacers 
  • Identifying asthma triggers and how to avoid or prepare for them  
  • Understanding controller medicines and rescue medicines
  • Understanding asthma action plans
