Metabolic Bone Disease
Children who have metabolic bone disease may have thin, thick, soft, brittle or irregular bones.
Metabolic bone diseases include:
- osteogenesis imperfecta
Metabolic bone diseases may be passed on from family members or acquired due to lack of nutrition or abnormalities in the way the body processes minerals.
Some metabolic bone diseases are reversible once the underlying problem has been identified and treated, while others may stabilize with age or require lifetime treatment.
