The Preventive Cardiology Clinic evaluates and treats children up to 18 years of age who have abnormal lipid profiles and related cardiovascular risk factors. This program uses a family health promotion model involving the entire family and focuses on good nutrition and a healthy, active lifestyle.

Services provided

• A comprehensive evaluation of the child for primary and secondary dyslipidemia and other cardiovascular risks.
• Educating children and their families about high cholesterol and the risk factors that contribute to premature coronary artery disease.
• Working with a dedicated nutritionist to help the child and family develop a diet program high in nutrition, but low in cholesterol and saturated fat. It will be tailored to the family dynamics.
• Evaluating the need and institution of pharmaceutical agents.
