Antithrombin Deficiency

Antithrombin deficiency is an inherited disorder (present at birth) and significantly increases the chance of the development of abnormal blood clots. Approximately half of those with this blood disorder will develop at least one abnormal blood clot, usually after adolescence. These blood clots may cause deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism.
