Robert J Hayashi, MD

Dr. Hayashi is Director of the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and an attending physician in Hematology/Oncology and General Pediatrics at St. Louis Children's Hospital. Dr. Hayashi's research interest focuses on issues related to long term effects of cancer therapy. His efforts examine the nature and spectrum of clinical conditions affecting childhood cancer survivors with the goal of developing interventions to improve the outlook of this patient population. He is involved in institutional and national efforts to gain insight in this rapidly evolving area of investigation. He directs The Late Effects Clinic at St. Louis Children's Hospital providing comprehensive care for patients afflicted with a broad scope of conditions. Dr. Hayashi's clinical interests also include bone marrow transplantation, Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD). He is actively involved in national trials advancing the treatment of patients in these areas.
