The St. Louis Children's Hospital Critical Care Transport Team are able to transfer patients by air and ground. Ideally, the decision as to which mode we use is based on the patient's acuity as well as time and distance concerns. Occasionally, we are unable to use our air service due to poor weather conditions. In these cases, or when a patient's condition does not warrant a flight, the transport team have a fleet of Mobile Intensive Care Units (MICUs) which allow us to safely transport patients by ground while maintaining the critical care environment needed for transfer.

We have 3 transport teams with 3 locations: one at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, one at St. Louis Downtown Airport Cahokia with our fixed wing and a helicopter and one at Parkland Health Center in Farmington with a helicopter.
