We, at St. Louis Children's Hospital, ensure that all patients and families receive medical information in their preferred language. It is our commitment to provide free language assistance through the use of qualified medical interpreters and written translations.

Interpreting

Interpreting is the process of converting spoken or sign language expressions from one language to another.

Interpreter Services are offered free of charge for patients and families. Interpreters are available 24 hours/day for foreign language and sign language assistance.

Please notify the scheduling staff that an interpreter will be needed at the time of your appointment, making sure to specify the language.  If your child has been admitted to the hospital please talk to your child’s nurse and request interpreter support each time medical information is communicated to you.

Translating

Translating is the process of transferring written communication from one language to another.

Translation Services are also offered at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. The goal of translated written materials is to enhance patient-provider communication. Translated materials include documents that are essential to access services and also patient education materials.
