Adult Volunteer Program
The St. Louis Children’s Hospital Volunteer Program is based on a consistent weekly schedule which usually consists of one 3 to 4 hour shift a week. We greatly value our adult volunteers for their ability to remain long-term volunteers with a dependable schedule. Starting January 2011, all new adult volunteers are asked to serve a minimum of 75 hours of service over a 1-year time period. Currently, our greatest volunteer needs fall on weekdays between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., though we do have limited opportunities in the evenings and weekends.
Ready to get started? The application is a simple, 4-step process:
- Attend an upcoming Informational Session, held on the first Thursday of each month. Here you will learn about the program requirements, meet current SLCH volunteers and find out how to apply. Please e-mail us (slchvolunteer@bjc.org) or call (314.454.6145) for dates and times of upcoming Sessions.
- Submit an online application. Information on how to access the online application will be supplied at the Informational Session.
- Print two copies of the reference form, which is available here, and the Criminal History Background Check release form, which is available here. The reference forms must be completed by non-family members (i.e. former/current employer, teacher/professor, school counselor, coworkers, etc.). Please submit all forms via fax or mail them in one envelope to the Volunteer Services Office:
