Today, more kids have a healthier and brighter future because of Healthy Kids Express. This donor-funded initiative unlocks access to world-class care for children and families throughout St. Louis, enabling our nurses, nurse practitioners, community health team members, and asthma coaches to expand their expertise beyond hospital doors.
Not only is mobile care more accessible and cost effective, our programs also have wraparound services that connect families to essential services and health care resources within their own community. Since its launch in 2000, the Healthy Kids Express mobile fleet has grown to include multiple vans, each focused on a specific healthcare need: Asthma, Preventative Screenings, Dental Care, and Diabetes.
Healthy Kids Express has performed more than 200,000 screenings for lead, anemia, hearing, and vision—in addition to providing more than 1,000 immunizations per year. With donor support providing free health services, education, and lifesaving medical equipment, the asthma program helps approximately 500 students per school year manage their asthma care.
St. Louis Children’s is building confidence, knowledge, and healthier smiles for children who wouldn’t have access to dental care otherwise. No other program in our region provides free, comprehensive dentistry for St. Louis’ most underserved populations.
As one of the world’s leading treatment and clinical research centers for diabetes, St. Louis Children’s has always been on the cutting edge. The newest Healthy Kids Express program continues this legacy with the first mobile pediatric diabetes specialty care unit in the nation.
Your gifts will ensure that St. Louis Children’s continues to deliver the life-changing care kids and families need to thrive in their communities for generations to come.
