This program was started as Project Safety-Net in 2005, as a mental health "safety-net" for suicide prevention to help teens and parents navigate through the complicated area of mental health issues that arise as children grow. Care is provided by Master’s level-educated staff, who offer accurate and thorough information to parents concerned about their teen’s well-being. After guidance is provided to parents, professionals follow up with families to assure they received the care they needed. Over the last two years, Project Safety Net has served 1,000 families.
A portion of the funds raised will support the pediatric mobile health program for St. Louis Children’s Hospital, Healthy Kids Express. Caring for children and keeping them healthy are two of Children’s Hospital’s highest priorities. Children’s Hospital is committed to developing programs that improve child health through prevention, intervention, early detection and health education. The only one in St. Louis, Healthy Kids Express benefits the community by meeting the specific and critical needs of children at risk of not receiving timely medical care. 454-TEEN and The Healthy Kids Express are funded solely through donations.
The History of Carousel“Toy Depot”, the first gala to benefit St. Louis Children’s Hospital, began in 1982 and featured an auction in conjunction with a toy sale. After 1988, the toy sale was eliminated and the auction was renamed “Carousel” and introduced in 1991. To date over $3 million has been raised by these auctions/galas.For more information contact Wende at 314.286.0987 or wendeac@bjc.org
