KiDDOS Goes Live

A new and more robust clinical documentation application went live September 23 at St. Louis Children's Hospital. The application, part of a new system called KiDDOS (Komputerized Inter-Disciplinary Documentation and Ordering for Safety), will be used on all inpatient units through a multi-phased implementation process. In the first phase launched September 23, nursing and allied health documentation went live.

“The change this go-live brings for physicians is primarily how clinical information is viewed,” says Dave Molter, MD, SLCH otolaryngology physician and KiDDOS physician leader. “For now, physician orders continue to be handwritten and ClinDesk continues to be a repository of all clinical information.”

Referring and community pediatricians currently using KidsViewer and ClinDesk are encouraged to access the following link http://slchcpoe.org for a brief and useful orientation to the new system. This orientation also includes information about remotely accessing and reviewing information in the new system.

In late October, SLCH will begin implementing the next phase in 8E and 8W – KiDDOS Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE). Physicians on those units will begin entering orders directly into the computer. A phased roll-out of other units will continue in December and January. “Our physicians have worked diligently to design a CPOE system specifically suited for Children’s Hospital,” says Dr. Molter. “Our ultimate goal is to further enhance the safety of our patients and the quality of our clinical care.”
