Pediatric ResearchThe Children’s Discovery Institute at St. Louis Children’s Hospital is aggressively pursuing cures to deadly childhood diseases with genetic origins, including cancer, and heart, lung, musculoskeletal and metabolic diseases. The hospital also conducts research in traumatic brain injury, intellectual and developmental disabilities, newborn medicine, fetal care, pediatric surgery and more.

Community Outreach ProgramsEvery year St. Louis Children Hospital performs tens of thousands of free services for medically underserved children in the community. Our Healthy Kids Express Program’s mobile units screen children for hearing and vision problems, anemia, scoliosis and elevated blood lead levels; social workers follow up with parents when children fail screens. The hospital also provides free dental care, asthma services, health education, parenting classes, safety programs, a car seat program and medical information services including hotlines for children and adolescents.
