Make Summertime Outdoors a Fun Time

Summer vacation is right around the corner. Here are some fun outdoor activities that will add life to those long and lazy days.

The countdown has begun. Spring fever is in full swing, and at school the kids are crossing off the days until the year’s final bell rings. Many parents get overwhelmed when they think about all the upcoming free time, but plenty of options are available to keep kids active outside.

  • Go to a park with some friends and have neighborhood Olympics.
  • Set up sprinklers and let your children run through them. Your kids will have a blast, and your yard will benefit as well.
  • Start a collection of leaves, bugs or flowers, and take daily nature walks to add to your assortment.
  • Visit the zoo and draw the animals. Research them and discover fun facts that make them unique.
  • Walk around town and study shapes. Take pictures of fun buildings and help young children study their forms.

St. Louis Children’s Hospital will host “Make Tracks for the Zoo,” a 5K sanctioned run and one-mile fun walk at the Saint Louis Zoo on June 7.
