Sara's twins shared an amniotic sack and were not receiving the same fluid levels. If not corrected, her babies risked heart failure or death. The condition, known as Twin Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS) was so far along, doctors with the Fetal Care Center at St. Louis Children's Hospital and Barnes-Jewish Hospitals performed laser surgery to cut off the flow of fluid between babies, and equalize the fluid.
