A caregiver with a hospitalized child can experience hardship and even hunger. In those moments, a healthy meal makes a difference, but affording one might be out of reach for some.
Meeting the basic needs of patients and families is a fundamental aspect of health care. The Caregiver Meal Program provides easy access to meals in our cafeteria, allowing caregivers to fully engage in their child’s care during their hospital stay.
The Caregiver Meal Program is yet another example of the compassionate care behind our mission to do what’s right for kids.
Our program is designed to be inclusive and reach every family regardless of their financial situation. The Caregiver Meal Program provides caregivers with breakfast and dinner in our cafeteria. Meals are available during holidays, to breastfeeding moms, and to caregivers arriving late at night to our Emergency Department. We also connect families with community resources to address home-based food insecurity and other needs.
This comprehensive approach to meeting the most basic of needs—a healthy meal—will help ensure that our patient families feel supported during challenging times. Our patients show improved health outcomes when their families feel cared for as well.
