Pediatric Patient at the Motion Analysis CenterOur advanced motion analysis technology and expertise in interpreting findings and making recommendations are vital components in helping your child achieve the greatest mobility possible.

What is motion analysis?

Motion analysis is a comprehensive computerized evaluation of how your child walks—his or her gait. The analysis is conducted in our Gait Lab with specialized equipment that captures motion through digital Specially-trained team members analyze gaitvideo cameras using highly sensitive sensors. A dedicated assessment team that includes orthopedic surgeons, neurologists and physical therapists evaluate the results. Team members may recommend that you and your primary physician consider nonsurgical or surgical measures. They also can assess how effective current therapies, such as orthotics or Botox (botulinum A toxin), have been for your child. An initial gate analysis can serve as a baseline that may be used to reassess your child after beginning or completing a treatment.

Motion analysis is used as an assessment tool for patients diagnosed with:

•    Cerebral palsy
•    Spina bifida
•    Clubfoot
•    Brain or spinal cord injury
•    Brace or prosthetic device modifications
•    Sports-related injuries
