We offer the following amenities to meet the needs of our patients, families, and guests. Find more information about services related to your child's room or stay.
Playrooms and family lounges
For patients and families:
- Child Life Playroom: All inpatient (children staying in the hospital) infants through adolescents are welcome during supervised play sessions. Children can participate in individual and small group activities and check out toys, games, books, and crafts for use in their rooms.
- Sibling Playroom: This playroom is for children ages 2–11 who are siblings of children staying in the hospital. Located on the lower level (LL) behind the dining area of the cafeteria, it is also open to children and their siblings visiting for outpatient appointments.
- Ronald McDonald Family Rooms: We have a family space for parents and family members of inpatients on the 5th floor. The Ronald McDonald Family Rooms provide free laundry facilities, bathrooms with showers, a living room with TV and games, computer access, and a kitchen.
- Purina Family Pet Center: Located on the 2nd floor, this pet-friendly playroom is available for dogs and cats from home to visit their humans while in the hospital.
- Center for Families: Open 24 hours a day, the Center for Families is a peaceful, welcoming space in the heart of the hospital. Located on the 3rd floor, it is designed to be your home away from home during your child's stay.
Outdoor gardens
We have two rooftop outdoor gardens for patients and families to enjoy: the Olson Family Garden on the 8th floor and the 7th Floor Garden.
Laundry facilities
A laundromat is provided free of charge on the hospital lower level near the Edison Café. Free laundry facilities are also available in the Ronald McDonald Family Rooms. Laundry detergent is available for purchase.
Coffee and Gift Shop
The Coffee and Gift Shop is located on the 1st floor at the street level of the hospital. Offerings include a variety of balloons, St. Louis Children's apparel, snacks, candy, and small gift items. Additionally, tasty breakfast pastries, fresh grab-and-go food, and Starbucks beverages can be purchased.
Lactation rooms
We offer private lactation rooms on the lower level, 2nd floor, and 5th floor where you can nurse or pump. These rooms are equipped with appropriate signage, a comfortable chair, a small table, electrical outlets, and sinks. Consult the floor plans below for the nearest lactation room. Supplies for Ameda® pumps are available for purchase in the St. Louis Children’s Hospital Pharmacy for $30. The pharmacy is open Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. The pharmacy phone number is 314-657-9005.
Fitness and massage services
Friends and family of our patients can use the BJC HealthCare fitness center for a small fee. The fitness center offers group classes and a wide range of cardio and strength training equipment. In addition, massage services are available both in your room and at the fitness center. For more information, call 314-286-0525.
Banking and ATMs
U.S. Bank and Bank of America ATMs are available on the lower level by the cafeteria. A full-service U.S. Bank branch is located on the 1st floor of the Barnes-Jewish north campus.

WiFi and computers
Wireless internet access is available throughout the hospital. Desktop computers are available in the Center for Families and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms during business hours.
Business center
The Center for Families on the 3rd floor has computers and a comfortable place to conduct personal business. Visitors can use a computer for email or personal needs, make copies, send faxes, or access hook-ups for their laptops. All services are free.
