All fellows complete our 12-month quality improvement and research seminar as part of the pediatric psychology fellowship at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. This seminar is designed to enhance competencies as fellows create and execute quality improvement projects, conduct clinical research, and engage in grant writing within an academic pediatric medical center.
The individualized seminar activities, interactive discussions, and professional development didactics provide experiences from which fellows construct a framework of knowledge to support professional endeavors. Throughout this seminar, fellows will:
- Gain an understanding of key aspects about how to conduct quality improvement projects in a pediatric medical setting.
- Practice writing proposals and conducting quality improvement projects.
- Increase awareness of cultural competencies in health care and the ongoing impact of health disparities, including how to develop quality improvement and research that addresses diversity, barriers to care, and health equity.
- Develop professional skills writing bio sketches and learning the core foundations of writing grants.
- Learn health care leadership and ethical practice in quality improvement and research, such as how to establish effective collaborations, hone communication skills, and include trainees in program development and research.
