Program Background

For the second year, St. Louis Children’s Hospital is bringing its highly acclaimed Safety Street program to summer camps. Safety Street is an injury prevention program for grades K-6. This year, we have the brand new Safety Land game! The program is absolutely free.

Program Overview

All age groups will learn the same content. The program covers safety regarding the topics of:

  • Pedestrian Safety
  • Stray Animal Safety
  • Stranger Safety
  • Home Safety
  • Playground Safety
  • Swimming Pool Safety
  • Car Trunk Entrapment Safety

Program Structure

The Safety Street facilitators will lead groups of 25 students or less through gameplay using a life-sized board game called Safety Land. Once the game is complete, other topics will be covered using games involving physical activity. Each session will last 45 minutes to an hour.

Requirements

Each camp must have the following requirements:

  • a minimum of 60 students
  • a quiet, distraction-free room or location
  • counselor supervision
  • groups no larger than 25
  • groups comprised of children of similar ages

Booking

This program is available to summer camps in St. Louis and surrounding areas. Summer camps are booked on a first-come, first-served basis.
