PROGRAM OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES
This program is designed to offer the primary care provider clinical approaches to problems common in pediatric and adolescent practice.  It will explore current recommendations in adolescent medicine, urology, dermatology, endocrinology, allergy and pulmonary, psychiatry, orthopedics, and genetics.  The intended result of this activity is increased knowledge, and competence.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify diagnostic criteria for short stature
  • Describe the most critical test for evaluating the growth of a child.
  • Describe the most common normal variations resulting in short stature during childhood.
  • Discuss the basics of the approach to the orthopedic examination
  • Describe comfort in the management of common pediatric sporting injuries
  • Discuss the options for treating acute psychiatric conditions like suicidality
  • Describe the screening for and managing suicidality.
  • Describe the introduction of peanut products
  • Discuss peanut immunotherapy as a new treatment option
  • Describe fundamental management strategies for common genitourinary concerns in the pediatric population.
  • Discuss how to counsel pediatric patients on preventative maintenance of genitourinary health.
