For the protection and health of our patients and team members during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak, the Child Life Classroom is closed indefinitely. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to providing this resource to our patients in the future.
The Hospital School Program is available to all in-patients who are hospitalized more than three days. By the fifth day of admission, the goal is to have patients attending the Hospital School Program daily. If a child will remain hospitalized long-term, the Hospital School Teacher will collaborate with the patient, family and health care team to establish a daily schedule.
At St. Louis Children's Hospital, our school program has the ability to contact the patient's school to have assignments faxed directly or delivered by family members. Once assignments have been received, or if assignments are not available, our school program staff creates an education plan specific to each patient's needs.
Many community volunteers enhance the school program by working with patients one-on-one. Both the school teacher and the community volunteers can work bedside with patients, or, if patients are ambulatory, they are welcome to visit the school room.
School Room Hours:
9 a.m. - 12 p.m.; 1-4 p.m. (Monday through Friday).
