Event Details

Join the St. Louis Children's Hospital Team and help raise funds for critical cancer research, bringing us all closer to the day we live in a world without it. Every dollar we raise stays right here in St. Louis, funding research at Siteman Kids and Siteman Cancer Center.

Registration is now open for Pedal the Cause 2021! We are excited to welcome the Pedal Family back for another year of fundraising for critical cancer research. Pedal the Cause is planning to host a first-class in person experience in Chesterfield Amphitheater on September 25 and 26, 2021. You also have the option to participate virtually through Pedal the Cause Inspired.

Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital seeks to advance pediatric cancer research and improve outcomes for kids and families stricken by pediatric cancer. Through funding from vital partners like Pedal the Cause, St. Louis Children's Hospital Foundation and the Children's Discovery Institute (CDI), we are enabling researchers to discover lifesaving treatments and cures for pediatric cancers. In 2020, awards for pediatric cancer research made through the Foundation and CDI totaled nearly $2.1 million.

St. Louis Children's Hospital Team Captains:
Trish Lollo, Hospital President
Dr. Gary Silverman, Pediatrician-in-Chief
Dr. Jorge Di Paola, Division Chief, Pediatric Hematology Oncology

Meet Eleanor

Meet Eleanor

This year, St. Louis Children's Hospital rides in honor of 2-year-old Eleanor, who is receiving treatment for acute myeloid leukemia, a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. Born with Down Syndrome and a blood disorder known as transient myleoproliferative disorder (TMD), doctors have monitored her closely since birth because kids with TMD have a 10-20% chance of developing leukemia. After a series of routine tests came back abnormal, Eleanor was diagnosed with leukemia at 15 months old.

View Eleanor's story and learn from her physician and Pedal researcher, Dr. Jeff Magee, and team captain, Dr. Jorge Di Paola.

Eleanor rang the bell in June 2021, signifying the end of her cancer treatment and is enjoying every minute being home. She loves playing with her siblings and spending time outside and was able to get her central line removed, which her mom says is a huge deal. Eleanor also is taking about 10 steps unassisted and should be walking by herself in no time.

Eleanor and her parents are excited to be representing St. Louis Children's at Pedal the Cause this year and hope that you will join her team in the fight against cancer!
