In 2019, St. Louis Children’s Hospital neurology and neurosurgery program ranked among the nation’s top 10 at No. 6. Two other areas, pulmonology and neonatology, also ranked in the top 10 at No. 5 and No. 10 respectively.

“Being ranked highly represents our ability to deliver state-of-the-art clinical care both safely and effectively,” says Christina Gurnett, MD, PhD, neurologist-in-chief at Children’s. “Our patients benefit from our strong research activities, multidisciplinary specialty care, community and family partnerships, and training programs that attract the brightest physicians.”

She continues: “Our highly integrated neuro programs allow us to work collaboratively in nearly every unit of the hospital to improve patient lives. The entire team is dedicated to our mission. I am humbled by the devotion to children that I see in those around me each day. This is an exceptional team in an exceptional place.”

U.S. News & World Report evaluates 10 individual pediatric specialties. St. Louis Children’s was among only 24 out of 191 hospitals to rank in every specialty, and is the only pediatric hospital within nearly 250 miles to rank in all 10 specialties.

The 10 pediatric specialties are cancer, cardiology/heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, gastroenterology, neonatology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, pulmonology and urology.
Children’s programs were within the top 25 in each of the 10 specialties.
