Your Experience Matters at St. Louis Children’s Hospital
Understanding and improving the patient and family experience is at the heart of our mission: Doing what is right for children. Every child and family who walks through our doors deserves expert care that is also kind, comforting, and tailored to their unique needs. At St. Louis Children’s, we listen to your feedback because your experience shapes the way we care for families today and in the future.
We know medical visits can be stressful, and we want every family to feel supported, heard, and confident in the care they receive. That’s why we ask for your input, so we can celebrate what we’re doing well and improve where it matters most to you.
Listening to families: Why we measure patient experience
Your voice matters. After your visit, you may receive a short survey asking about your experience. These insights help us make sure every family feels heard, respected, and cared for during their stay.
How we collect feedback
We will send a short survey by email, text, or phone. It’s a simple way to share your thoughts about what went well, how we can do better, and recognize team members who impacted your experience. The survey is conducted by a third party firm that measures patient experience for thousands of hospitals nationwide. Your input is completely confidential, and it helps us make real changes that improve the experience for all children and families.
What we ask
We ask a variety of questions to help us understand your experience, such as:
- How well our doctors and nurses listened and explained things
- How well our staff worked together as part of your care team
- Whether your family felt respected and cared for during your stay
- How quickly we responded to you and your child’s needs
- Any issues regarding pain management and comfort
- The level of cleanliness in the hospital environment
- Your overall experience and if you would recommend us
Rating your stay at St. Louis Children's Hospital
When families visit our hospital, we ask them an important question: Would you recommend St. Louis Children’s Hospital to your family and friends?
We use the answers from this question to calculate a score that tells us how well we are meeting our patient and families’ needs. The higher the score, the more kids and their families would recommend our care to others.
- If families rate us at a nine or 10, it means we’re doing things right. We’re listening carefully, helping kids feel comfortable, and making sure families are supported and have the answers they need.
- If families rate us between zero and eight, it can mean we fell short of meeting our goal and we want to know why.
Our data
Your journey helps shape the future of our hospital. By listening to what families say, we can make our hospital better for every child who comes here.
So when we ask if you would recommend us, it’s not just a question. It’s a way to help us take even better care of children and families like you.
